Total number of Births                           108 = 100%

Vaginal deliveries                                     84 = 78% 

      Normal spontaneous vaginal              82= 76%

      Vacuum extraction                               2 = 2% 

      Vaginal births after previous C/S    4 successful out of 5 attempts 

               Twins = 1 set (vaginal)

      

Of Those Who Had Vaginal Deliveries = 84

48 women had an intact perineum, or no stitches = 57%

20 had a 1st degree perineal laceration = 24%

8 had a 2nd degree perineal laceration = 10%

0 had a 3rd degree perineal laceration = 0%

0 had a 4th degree perineal laceration = 0%

1 had a sidewall laceration that was repaired = 1%

7 had median episiotomies = 8%

 

Of those who had Vaginal Deliveries = 84

59 had no medication or anesthesia = 70%

15 had epidural anesthesia = 18%

4 had medication for pain relief, then epidural= 5%

6 had medication but no epidural = 7%

 

Total Cesarean Deliveries         24 = 22%

Primary Cesareans Deliveries = 22

Repeat Cesarean Deliveries = 2

    Reasons for Cesareans       

   Got to full dilation but unable to push baby out = 4

    Failure to progress in labor = 5

   Oblique lie due to fibroid = 1

   Patient preference after 2 prior Cesareans = 1 

   Fetal Indication  = 12

          Breech = 4

          Non-reassuring fetal heart rate tracing = 8

 

Of CBS Clients in 2008:

53 - women were first-time mothers

44 - had their second baby

9 - had their third baby

2- had her  fourth baby

Women who wanted Birth Center and were eligible at term = 82

55 - delivered Birth Center = 68%

25 - Transferred to Labor & Delivery in labor = 30%

2- Birth Center full- had to deliver on L&D = 2%
