An in-hospital birth center with Jacuzzi's, one floor away from a fully-equipped labor and delivery unit with showers in every birth room - these are some of the attraction of Roosevelt Hospital's maternity facilities.  In response to the requests of many of our clients, Barbara Sellars, CBS midwife, is now able to attend your birth in these beautiful surroundings.  Located at 59th St., and 10th Ave. in Manhattan, Roosevelt offers rooming-in and family centered maternity policies in addition to its spiffy decor.   Check it out- call 212-523-6091 for information about tours of Roosevelt's birthing options.

Dr. Franz Margono, has done many of CBS clients' sonograms and amnios.  He is now a perinatologist at Roosevelt Hospital and a consulting physician for Barbara Sellars, CNM.

Dr. Jaana Rehnstrom began working in our office in September 1997.  While her own practice is separate from CBS Midwifery, Dr. Rehnstrom is available for consultation on gyn problems and can offer services outside the scope of midwifery to CBS patients who require them.  Dr. Rehnstrom has priveleges at Roosevelt Hospital, where Barbara is attending births.   She does surgery at Roosevelt, as well as in-office procedures such as colposcopies.  Because she has 2 young children, she is not presently doing obstetrics.

OFFICE REMAINS IN FLATIRION DISTRICT

Appointments for gynecology or pregnancy care will still be at our office at 103 Fifth ave, 3rd floor (between 17th and 18th Streets).  First appointments for new patients continue to be a hour in length; follow-up appointments are usually scheduled for half an hour.  Where else can you find this kind of service in this age of managed care?  Barbara Sellars, CNM remains an Oxford provider (provider number P463327).

ROOSEVELT MIDWIVES WILL COVER FOR VACATIONS

Burn-out is a professional hazard that can only be avoided by taking some time off now and then.  Barbara Sellars enjoys being the only midwife at CBS Midwifery because of the unique relationship she is able to establish with her clients.  But when she goes on vacation, she wants experienced, qualified, private practice midwives to cover her.  The move to Roosevelt Hospital will make it possible for the CNM's at Midwifery Services, Inc., an Upper West Side institution for over 25 years, to take care of CBS Midwifery patients' needs when Barbara is away.

1999 VACATION

Barbara Sellars, CBS midwife is planning a vacation the first week in October 1999, so be careful around the holidays, or you'll be due when she's away next fall.  Don't conceive between 12/29-1/22 ( last menstrual period 12/15-1/8) to avoid a baby that wants to be born when she is not here to welcome her/him.  REMEMBER CBS CAN ONLY TAKE 8 CLIENTS DUE IN ANY ONE CALENDAR MONTH, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE KIND OF CARE YOU EXPECT.
